In Trier: Contemporary European Painting



Seven special exhibitions will be on display until the beginning of November in the impressive large-scale exhibition "City from Antiquity to the Present - 2000 Years of the City of Trier" On 24 August, an eighth exhibition will open in Trier's "Kulturfabrik" Weberbach, showing "European Painting of the Present - Traces and Signs". 40 European artists - world-famous ones such as Karel Appel, Antonie Tapiès, Frank Auerbach, Pierre Alechinsky, Hantaï, Peter Klasen, Erro, Pincemin, Emil Schumacher, Paladino, Dorazio and young, as yet unknown ones - will participate with 80 large-format works in the presentation of today's painting, which refers in a special way to occidental tradition. The exhibition, which can be visited daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. until 18 November (Mondays only from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.), is accompanied by a 200-page catalogue. The latest edition of the events programme "1984 - 2000 Years of the City of Trier" can be obtained free of charge from the Tourist Office of the City of Trier, Postfach 38 30, 5500 Trier.
