The "pop'spectacle" programmed by the Maison de la Culture tonight (at 9.15pm), tomorrow (at 5pm and 9.15pm) and the day after tomorrow (at 5pm), will bring together the Groupe d'art Pop 37 de Tours and the pop'music orchestra: "The reflection".
For three days, the group 37 will be exhibiting at the Maison Jeanne-d'Artc some significant works of pop art created by artists from Tours. One of its organisers, Pierre Valentiner, will talk to the public during each of the "pop'spectacles".
Before presenting "The Reflection", let us recall what "pop music" is. Living music par excellence according to its adepts, its "fans" (because the admiration of its supporters goes as far as fanaticism, sometimes to hysteria), alienating, degrading music, which addresses the lowest level of human sensitivity according to its opponents...
Whatever one's opinion of this new musical expression, one truth stands out: "pop music" is an important phenomenon, if only for its social significance. It is in fact the music that has the greatest echo among today's youth (although we are still far from the Anglo-Saxon enthusiasm in France): it is fundamentally the reflection of a revolt of youth against a certain society.
The orchestra that will take part in the MCO's "pop spectacle" by interpreting works of "pop music" is a band from Orléans with an expected title, without precise meaning (found by chance in an English magazine): "The Reflection".
It brings together six very young musicians (average age: 17), almost all of them students (only one of them works): Larry Cook, bassist, Jean Daniel Kiles (singer), Jean-Philippe Moreau (organist), Jöel Rickebourg (rhythm guitar), Christian Le Ber (drummer) and Jean-Michel Cadenat (lead guitar).
The orchestra has only existed since May 1969 - the date of its first concert on the university campus of La Source.
